General Guidelines for the Student Visa to study in Spain (Type-D Student visa)
The Spanish Embassies or Consulates at the selected students’ countries of origin will be contacted by UJI through a letter informing them about the Master program and asking them to speed up the visa processes and to give the Master program students all possible support and information. Therefore, the selected Master program Students should contact their embassy or consulate, as soon as possible, to inquire about the specific documents required to apply for the student visa as every country has its own regulations and specifications, and to ensure that their Type D visa will be issued to them in due time. Also, many consulates require that applicants ask for an appointment for submitting these documents. The selected Master program Students should contact their consulates at least 6 months before the date they plan to leave the country due to the high demand of appointments. Furthermore, once the application has been submitted expect at least 2 months for the visa to be processed, although in some cases this may take even longer. In almost all cases, the documents have to be submitted in person.
The following website, The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, can be useful in this process: http://www.exteriores.gob.es/Portal/en/ServiciosAlCiudadano/InformacionParaExtranjeros/Paginas/Inicio.aspx
